)(
A point of contact. The intersection of distinct boundaries within a shared relational space, where mutual responsibility, individual agency, and structural clarity establish the conditions for trust, engagement, meaningful inquiry, and work.
METER
Derived from Ancient Greek metron, meaning “measure.” It refers to the act of measuring, establishing dimensions, or determining the extent of something.
(PARA)(METERS)
Measuring alongside; establishing the boundaries and conditions that hold a relational container, creating space for complexity, emergence, and transformation.
The structural boundaries, mutual responsibilities, and professional agreements that establish and sustain the container for engaging in MESSWORK. Grounded in clarity, consistency, and accountability, these parameters support relational inquiry and embodied process. Rather than prescribing outcomes, parameters define the conditions within which the work can unfold.

RELATIONAL
PARAMETERS
The relational parameters articulate the shared principles that shape our engagement in MESSWORK. Grounded in an understanding of transformation as an embodied and relational process, they recognize that meaningful change emerges not in isolation, but through contact, awareness, inquiry, and the dynamic interplay between self and other. These principles establish a foundation of mutual responsibility, curiosity, consent, and respect, creating the conditions for authentic engagement, greater capacity, and transformation.
-
We approach the work with an orientation toward adult responsibility, recognizing our capacity to make choices, communicate needs, ask for support, and acknowledge the impact of our actions. Intention and impact are not always aligned; both offer opportunities for greater awareness, accountability, and growth.
-
Our client-practitioner professional relationship is an active part of the process. We cultivate transparency, honest communication, and a willingness to explore what emerges between us, including moments of connection, tension, misunderstanding, and repair. We recognize that our ways of relating can both reveal and transform established patterns.
-
We approach the work through active inquiry rather than predetermined answers, recognizing that multiple perspectives and seemingly contradictory experiences can coexist. Curiosity invites us to investigate assumptions, encounter the unknown, and expand our capacity to hold and work within complexity.
-
Discomfort may emerge as we encounter unfamiliar feelings, patterns, and experiences. Rather than equating discomfort with harm or assuming it must be overcome, we approach it with curiosity, discernment, and attention to individual capacity and boundaries. The invitation is to develop greater awareness and choice in how we respond.
-
Transformation cannot be forced. We honor the rhythms of individual processes, recognizing that slowing down, pausing, expressing uncertainty, and declining an intervention are meaningful forms of participation. Consent is ongoing and may be withdrawn at any time.
-
We share a commitment to treating ourselves, one another, and the environments in which we work with dignity, care, and respect. Differences, difficult emotions, and challenging conversations are welcomed as part of the relational process. Intimidation, harassment, threats, and abusive conduct are not tolerated. When harm is intentional or ongoing, and there is no willingness to engage in accountability or repair, the conditions for continuing the work are no longer present.
-
Confidentiality is foundational to the trust, vulnerability, and openness that support our relational work. We approach what is shared within the professional relationship with care, discretion, and respect for personal boundaries. The experiences, disclosures, and processes that emerge within our sessions are held in confidence, creating space for honest expression, meaningful inquiry, and authentic engagement.
OPERATIONAL
PARAMETERS
The operational parameters establish the practical and professional conditions that support our engagement in MESSWORK. Grounded in mutual responsibility, transparency, and the understanding that our work structure is integral to the relational process, they articulate the agreements, expectations, and boundaries through which we navigate our shared commitments. These parameters intend to balance consistency with flexibility, recognize individual circumstances, and preserve the integrity, continuity, and sustainability of the practice while creating conditions for trust, accountability, and meaningful engagement.
-
MESSWORK offers 50-minute virtual sessions, with the option to schedule double 100-minute sessions, depending on the nature of the work and mutual agreement.
Weekly sessions are the standard structure of engagement, supporting continuity, consistency, and the development of a sustained relational process. Appointments are established collaboratively as standing weekly commitments, occurring on the same day and at the same time.
Biweekly sessions may be considered after an established period of consistent work, when sufficient foundations have developed, and the client demonstrates the capacity to resource themselves internally and externally between appointments. This transition is considered collaboratively, based on the client's process, needs, and capacity for sustained engagement.
Once a recurring appointment time and session duration are agreed upon, sessions are scheduled through Google Calendar, with Zoom links included in the standing calendar invitation.
Both MESSWORK and clients share a commitment to punctuality. Sessions begin and conclude at their scheduled times. When a client arrives late, the appointment will still conclude at the originally scheduled time, without extension or adjustment to the session fee. -
The environment in which we engage is an integral part of the MESSWORK container. Virtual sessions require privacy, presence, and intentionality to support relational inquiry, embodied awareness, and meaningful participation.
Clients are asked to participate from a private, indoor, and stationary environment, free from unnecessary interruptions and distractions. Sessions are not conducted from vehicles, public spaces, or while walking, working, or engaging in other activities.
Clients are encouraged to establish a space that supports their comfort, privacy, and capacity for embodied participation, including sufficient room for movement where appropriate. Virtual engagement requires a reliable internet connection and functioning audio and video.
When technical difficulties arise, reasonable efforts may be made to restore the connection. If video communication is temporarily unavailable, a telephone session may be considered when necessary and appropriate to the work.
When neither video nor telephone communication is possible, and the disruption results from preventable circumstances or insufficient preparation rather than an emergency or event beyond the client's reasonable control, the appointment may be canceled or rescheduled, with the full session fee remaining applicable. Individual circumstances will inform how the situation is addressed.
Clients may participate while traveling, provided they can establish an environment that meets the same standards of privacy, safety, technological reliability, and embodied participation as their usual session space. Advance notification of travel is not required. Travel does not alter the established conditions of engagement.
Recording sessions, whether through audio, video, screen capture, automated transcription, or AI-assisted recording tools, is not permitted.
If an environment compromises the privacy, safety, or integrity of the session, MESSWORK reserves the right to pause or discontinue the appointment, subject to the applicable cancellation and rescheduling parameters. -
Session fees are set based on the nature and duration of the work and are communicated before we begin our engagement.
Payment is due on the day of each session, no later than the end of the business day, unless alternative arrangements have been established in advance. Venmo is currently the exclusive payment method.
MESSWORK recognizes that financial circumstances vary and remains open to dialogue around sliding-scale arrangements when practice capacity allows. A limited number of reduced-fee spaces may be accommodated, with each arrangement considered individually and subject to availability and mutual agreement.
Sliding-scale arrangements are not guaranteed, and MESSWORK does not currently offer pro bono sessions.
Session fees are formally reviewed annually, including existing sliding-scale arrangements, considering factors such as inflation, evolving professional qualifications and credentials, changes in offerings, and the ongoing sustainability of the practice.
An annual review does not necessarily result in a fee adjustment. Any proposed changes to established fees will be communicated to affected clients approximately four to six weeks in advance, with a clear effective date and an opportunity for dialogue.
MESSWORK is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance or submit insurance claims on behalf of clients. -
MESSWORK currently operates exclusively within Core Energetics' professional framework, offering relational, embodied, and experiential approaches to personal development and transformation.
MESSWORK does not provide licensed psychotherapy, medical or psychiatric treatment, diagnosis, or other regulated clinical services. The practice also establishes these distinctions in its client intake and informed-consent documentation.
Medical Documentation and Assessments
MESSWORK does not provide medical or psychiatric diagnoses, prescribe medication, conduct medical or psychiatric evaluations, or issue medical documentation, assessments, certifications, recommendations, or letters of support.
This includes documentation relating to medical procedures, surgeries, and gender-affirming care or surgery; medication, prescriptions, medical treatment, or medical necessity. Mental health diagnoses, psychological evaluations, or assessments of psychological readiness. Determinations, accommodations, medical leave, or fitness for treatment surrounding ability. Other matters requiring medical, psychiatric, or clinical certification. These limitations apply regardless of the duration, depth, or nature of the working relationship. Clients seeking such services should consult appropriately qualified and licensed health professionals.
Legal Matters, Representation and Third-Party Documentation
MESSWORK does not provide legal representation, advocacy, forensic evaluations, expert testimony, depositions, character references, or letters of support for legal proceedings.
The practitioner does not voluntarily participate in litigation, criminal proceedings, custody disputes, divorce proceedings, immigration matters, sentencing hearings, probation or parole proceedings, or other judicial or administrative matters on behalf of clients.
This includes circumstances involving arrest, criminal charges, detention, incarceration, or imprisonment. MESSWORK does not serve as a legal advocate, court representative, expert witness, or intermediary between clients and legal authorities.
MESSWORK does not provide workplace assessments, employment-related certifications, immigration letters, or other third-party documentation intended to establish eligibility, fitness, credibility, or legal or professional standing.
The working relationship does not establish an obligation to intervene in legal matters or provide statements, assessments, testimony, or documentation intended to influence legal, administrative, employment, or immigration outcomes.
Professional Collaboration and Release of Information
Where appropriate, MESSWORK may collaborate with other professionals involved in a client's care only after receiving a formally completed and signed Release of Information (ROI).
Each ROI identifies the authorized parties, purpose of communication, and specific scope of information that may be exchanged.
A separate ROI is required for each professional collaboration. Authorization for one professional or purpose does not extend to other parties or circumstances.
Such collaboration does not extend MESSWORK's professional scope to include medical assessments, clinical certification, legal representation, or third-party documentation. -
A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours' notice are subject to the full session fee, except where an applicable exception for sudden illness, genuine emergency, or extraordinary circumstances has been established.
Sudden or emergency illness that prevents participation and could not reasonably have been anticipated within the notice period is exempt from the cancellation fee.
Illness with reasonable advance notice should be communicated within the established 48-hour cancellation window. Ongoing illness, anticipated recovery, and chronic health circumstances are addressed through the distinctions and arrangements established in Section 06.
The cancellation policy applies equally to late cancellations, late rescheduling requests, and missed appointments without notice, except where an applicable exception has been established.
Cancellation and rescheduling requests should be communicated by email. In sudden emergencies or circumstances requiring immediate communication, text messaging may also be used.
Reserved session times represent a mutual commitment. Once an appointment has been canceled, the original time may be offered to another client and cannot be assumed to remain available.
Cancellation of an individual appointment does not affect subsequent standing appointments unless otherwise agreed upon.
MESSWORK may occasionally need to reschedule appointments due to illness, emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances. When this occurs, MESSWORK will notify clients as promptly as possible and explore alternative arrangements. Clients are not charged for sessions canceled by MESSWORK.
Outside the exceptions identified in these parameters, late cancellation and rescheduling fees remain applicable. -
MESSWORK recognizes that illness, emergencies, and circumstances beyond reasonable control can interrupt the continuity of scheduled work. These circumstances are approached with care, discernment, and attention to both individual needs and the sustainability of the practice.
Sudden and Emergency Illness
Acute or unexpected illness that develops within the 48-hour cancellation window and prevents meaningful participation qualifies for an exception to the cancellation policy, with no session fee charged.
Where advance notice was not reasonably possible, clients are asked to communicate as soon as their circumstances permit.
Ongoing and Foreseeable Illness
Ongoing illness requires greater consideration of the circumstances and the reasonable opportunities available for advance communication.
When a client knows an illness may interfere with upcoming sessions, communication in alignment with the 48-hour notice policy is necessary. In some circumstances, a client may reasonably anticipate recovering enough to participate but later finds that their condition has not improved or has unexpectedly worsened. Such circumstances are considered individually, with attention to the client's reasonable expectations, capacity to participate, and the timing of communication.
The distinction is not simply whether an illness is acute or ongoing, but whether the inability to participate could reasonably have been anticipated and communicated in advance.
Chronic Illness and Ongoing Health ConditionsWhere chronic illness, recurring symptoms, or ongoing health conditions may regularly affect participation, MESSWORK and the client will collaboratively establish an individualized plan to support continuity and clarify cancellation and rescheduling arrangements.
This plan may consider the nature and predictability of symptoms, the client's capacity for participation, reasonable opportunities for advance communication, and the sustainability of the standing appointment.
The intention is to recognize the realities of chronic illness without requiring repeated case-by-case negotiation or creating uncertainty around the conditions of engagement.
Arrangements may be revisited as circumstances evolve.
Illness of DependentsSudden illness or emergencies involving children, elderly family members, or other dependents under a client's care may qualify for an exception when the circumstances require immediate attention or reasonably prevent participation.
When caregiving responsibilities or dependent health conditions are ongoing or foreseeable, clients communicate in advance to plan collaboratively.
Genuine Emergencies
Unexpected circumstances that immediately threaten health, safety, or essential caregiving responsibilities may qualify for exceptions to the cancellation policy.
Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature of the circumstances, the context of the therapeutic relationship, and any recurring patterns of cancellation.
Clients are asked to communicate as soon as reasonably possible, recognizing that emergencies may temporarily prevent advance notice.
Force Majeure and Extraordinary Circumstances
Events beyond the reasonable control of either party may prevent a session from proceeding despite appropriate preparation and intention to participate.
These may include widespread power outages, significant telecommunications failures, natural disasters, severe weather events, public emergencies, or comparable disruptions.
These circumstances differ from preventable technical difficulties, ordinary scheduling conflicts, insufficient preparation, or personal logistical challenges.
Where an extraordinary event prevents participation, the session may be canceled without charge or rescheduled through mutual agreement.
Continuity and Recurring Interruptions
When illness, emergencies, or extraordinary circumstances repeatedly interrupt work, we may discuss these patterns to consider individual needs, capacity for engagement, and the sustainability of the standing appointment.
Clients are not required to disclose detailed medical histories, diagnoses, or supporting medical documentation to request an illness-related exception. -
Communication outside scheduled sessions is welcomed for scheduling, administrative inquiries, and other matters relevant to our work.
MESSWORK's business hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM Eastern Time.
Email is the preferred channel for scheduling, cancellations, rescheduling, and general administrative communication. Email responses are generally provided within 48–72 business hours.
Text messaging may be used for time-sensitive scheduling matters, urgent communication, and emergencies. MESSWORK aims to respond to text messages within 24-48 hours during business days, recognizing that availability may vary.
While meaningful feelings and relational experiences may emerge between sessions, email, telephone calls, and text messages are not substitutes for the depth and containment of scheduled appointments. Clients are encouraged to bring such material into the work when appropriate.
Exceptional Telephone Contact
Within an active working relationship, MESSWORK may offer a brief telephone conversation of up to 15 minutes when a client is experiencing an urgent situation and additional contact is considered appropriate.
These conversations are exceptional, offered at the practitioner's discretion and subject to availability. They are intended as one-time accommodations, not recurring arrangements or substitutes for scheduled sessions.
An accommodation in one circumstance does not establish an ongoing entitlement to telephone contact or an obligation to provide similar accommodations in the future.
Exceptional telephone contact is not ordinarily available during planned pauses unless explicitly agreed upon in advance, and is not offered following an indefinite pause or conclusion of the active working relationship.
MESSWORK does not provide emergency intervention, crisis management, or continuous on-call support. Clients requiring immediate assistance should contact appropriate emergency or crisis services.
Social Media and Electronic Communication
Clients may follow MESSWORK's public social media accounts; however, private professional communication and client-related matters are not conducted through social media messaging platforms.
Electronic communications may carry privacy and security risks. Clients are encouraged to avoid sharing highly sensitive personal information through channels not specifically designated for confidential communication.
MESSWORK is not an emergency or crisis-response service and does not provide continuous or on-call support. Clients requiring immediate emergency assistance should contact appropriate emergency or crisis services. -
MESSWORK recognizes that expressions of gratitude, appreciation, and generosity may emerge naturally within meaningful relational work.
To maintain clarity, consistency, and integrity within the professional relationship, MESSWORK does not accept gifts from clients or offer gifts to clients.
This boundary applies regardless of a gift's monetary value, material form, or symbolic significance.
The intention is not to discourage appreciation or generosity, but to preserve the relational conditions of the work without introducing additional obligations, expectations, or ambiguities around reciprocity.
Expressions of gratitude, care, and appreciation are welcomed as experiences that can be acknowledged and explored within the relational field and process.
Where the wish to offer or receive a gift carries particular personal or relational significance, that experience may itself become meaningful material for inquiry. -
MESSWORK is grounded in mutual respect, accountability, and the recognition that meaningful relational work may involve discomfort, disagreement, conflict, and challenging emotional experiences.
These experiences are welcomed as part of the process and may provide opportunities for inquiry, greater awareness, and relational development.
At the same time, threatening, intimidating, harassing, discriminatory, or otherwise abusive conduct is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
Clients and practitioners share responsibility for maintaining the professional conditions necessary for meaningful engagement, including respect for established boundaries, confidentiality, and the integrity of the relational container.
Participation while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that significantly compromise awareness, judgment, safety, or the capacity for meaningful engagement may result in a session being paused, terminated, and work discontinued.
Confidentiality and Information Sharing
MESSWORK maintains the privacy and confidentiality of client information in accordance with its client intake forms, informed-consent documents, and established practice agreements.
MESSWORK does not voluntarily disclose client information to third parties without the client's explicit authorization, except when an immediate, life-threatening emergency reasonably requires sharing limited information to protect someone's safety.
Communication with medical, mental health, or other professionals requires a separate, formally completed Release of Information (ROI) for each authorized arrangement. Each ROI establishes the parties involved, the purpose of communication, and the specific scope of information authorized for exchange.
Client intake documentation designates emergency contacts and establishes the circumstances and scope under which contact may occur. Clients may review and update their emergency contact designations and related authorizations at any time.
Any information shared in response to an immediate, life-threatening emergency will be limited to what is reasonably necessary to address the situation.
MESSWORK is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of information shared within the practitioner-client relationship. Information will not be disclosed without client consent, except where required by applicable law, including any legally mandated reporting obligations or enforceable court orders. MESSWORK does not represent itself as a licensed clinical practice or automatically assume the statutory reporting obligations of licensed mental health professionals; however, any legal obligations that independently apply to the practitioner remain applicable.
Maintaining the Professional Container
MESSWORK reserves the right to establish additional boundaries, pause sessions, or discontinue the professional relationship at any time when conduct compromises the safety, integrity, or sustainability of the work.
Where appropriate and feasible, concerns will be communicated and opportunities for dialogue provided.
When an immediate situation presents a serious threat to life or safety, MESSWORK may seek appropriate emergency assistance, sharing only the information reasonably necessary to address the circumstances. -
MESSWORK recognizes that circumstances may arise in which a client wishes or needs to pause their engagement temporarily. Pauses are understood as intentional interruptions within an established working relationship and require mutual communication, clarity, and agreement around the conditions of the interruption.
A distinction is maintained between planned pauses, which preserve the relational container under agreed conditions, and indefinite or unstructured pauses, which constitute a conclusion of the active working arrangement.
Planned Pauses
A planned pause is a mutually agreed interruption with an established return date or a specific date to revisit resumption.
Where possible, the intention to pause is communicated and explored within a scheduled session, allowing space to consider the circumstances of the interruption, its relational significance, and the conditions necessary to support continuity.
During an agreed planned pause, the working relationship remains open within the established parameters. This does not imply ongoing access to sessions, telephone conversations, or other forms of professional engagement during the interruption.
Standing weekly appointments may be retained for planned pauses of up to two weeks, subject to mutual agreement. For interruptions exceeding two weeks, the standing appointment is released, even when the working relationship remains open. Scheduling is revisited and reestablished upon the client's return, subject to availability and mutual agreement.
The preservation of the relational container during a planned pause does not guarantee the preservation of a particular appointment time.
Indefinite Pauses and Disengagement
An indefinite pause without an agreed return date or a specific review point does not preserve the active working relationship.
Where a client communicates a desire to pause without establishing a mutually understood structure for resumption, MESSWORK considers the active engagement concluded. MESSWORK releases the standing appointment, and the relational container is no longer maintained as an ongoing professional commitment.
Similarly, if a client stops participating or communicating without an agreed pause, that absence does not create an indefinite continuation of the professional relationship.
MESSWORK may seek clarification regarding the client's intention to continue, pause, or conclude the work. Where meaningful communication or mutual agreement is not established, MESSWORK may communicate the conclusion of the active working arrangement.
This distinction recognizes that continuity requires mutual participation and that an indefinite suspension cannot be maintained through unilateral designation or prolonged absence.
Where possible, clients are invited to engage in the established three-session closing process. However, not participating in that process does not prevent the working relationship from concluding.
Communication and Availability During Pauses
During an agreed planned pause, communication is limited to administrative matters relating to the agreed interruption, scheduling, and the anticipated resumption of work.
Additional telephone contact, including exceptional 15-minute emergency calls, is not available during a pause unless expressly agreed upon as part of the planned arrangement.
Following an indefinite pause or conclusion of the active working relationship, MESSWORK does not provide ongoing professional contact, emergency telephone conversations, or other forms of between-session support.
Correspondence unrelated to a possible resumption of work may not receive an individual response. Requests to resume engagement may be considered, subject to alignment, availability, mutual agreement, and the appropriateness of renewing the working relationship.
MESSWORK does not provide emergency or crisis-response services. Clients requiring immediate assistance should seek appropriate emergency, medical, or crisis resources.
Resuming the WorkResumption following a planned pause takes place according to the agreed arrangements, with scheduling revisited where the original appointment time has been released.
Where the active working relationship has concluded, a request to return is considered a new inquiry rather than an automatic reinstatement of the previous arrangement.
MESSWORK retains discretion to determine whether renewed engagement is appropriate, taking into account current availability, the circumstances of the previous working relationship, and the conditions necessary to support a mutually sustainable process.
A previous working relationship does not guarantee future availability or acceptance into the practice.
-
Clients may communicate their intention to conclude their engagement with MESSWORK at any point in the working relationship.
Endings are meaningful parts of the relational process, offering opportunities for reflection, integration, acknowledgment, and intentional completion of the work.
The established closing process consists of three sessions, allowing the relationship and work undertaken to reach a considered, supported conclusion.
These sessions provide space to explore the meaning of the ending, acknowledge significant experiences and developments, and integrate the work, while considering how the client will continue to resource themselves beyond the professional relationship.
If additional time is needed or mutually desired, we can arrange additional closing sessions.
The three-session process is an established part of how MESSWORK holds the work, recognizing that endings themselves may carry important relational, emotional, and developmental significance.
Clients retain the right to discontinue participation at any time. If a client chooses not to participate in the closing sessions, MESSWORK will respect that decision, and the engagement may conclude without completing the established closing process. Sessions that are not attended remain subject to the applicable cancellation and rescheduling parameters only where an appointment was actually reserved and booked.
MESSWORK may also determine that continuing the professional relationship is no longer appropriate, including when the work falls outside the practitioner's professional scope, the relationship is no longer constructive, or established professional boundaries cannot be maintained.
Where appropriate, reasonable notice, opportunities for dialogue, and referral information may be provided, consistent with the nature of the working relationship and the practitioner's professional scope.
The conclusion of the working relationship does not invalidate or diminish the significance of the work undertaken. -
MESSWORK's parameters will evolve and expand in response to changes in the practice, professional responsibilities, and the needs of the work; parameters are reviewed periodically to ensure their continued relevance, clarity, and alignment with the practice.
Each published version is identified by a version number and effective date, establishing a record of the agreements applicable at a given time.
MESSWORK will communicate material changes directly to existing clients before implementation, with an opportunity to review the updated terms and engage in dialogue where clarification is needed.
MESSWORK remains available to discuss these parameters, their implications, and any subsequent updates, recognizing that clarity and mutual understanding are integral to the working relationship.
Clients will be asked to acknowledge material updates in writing, typically by email, confirming their understanding of and agreement to continue working within the revised parameters.
Acknowledgment records will identify the applicable version, effective date, and date of client acknowledgment.
The practice will maintain a record of previous versions, amendments, and relevant acknowledgments to document the evolution of its operational agreements.
These parameters supplement all existing client intake forms, informed-consent documents, privacy notices, and other applicable practice agreements. They are intended to complement, not replace, them.
